Well the Braves made a fairly significant signing, agreeing to a 2 year deal for Mike Yastrzemski that will pay him $9 million in 2026, $10 million in 2027, and holds a club option worth $7 million, but with a $4 million buyout for 2028. While this move may not exactly get the hearts of Braves fans racing and Yastrzemski is clearly on the old side of things, there is quite a bit of logic to it. Yastrzemski has a well-established track record of mashing right-handed pitching as a left-handed bat and plays
respectable outfield defense, providing the flexibility to sit and/or DH any of the outfield, along with some insurance for Michael Harris being unable to rediscover his hit tool.
The Braves have reportedly been after pitching all offseason, both on the starting and relief side, and are reportedly still open to upgrading at shortstop. A lot of that will depend on how much money they have left to spend and what they are willing to trade. The expectation is still for the Braves to make major additions, and rumors continue to swirl from Corey Seager, to Zac Gallen, to Robert Suarez. We never really know what this Alex Anthopoulos front office will do next.
