There might be something cooking for Sacha Boey to leave Bayern Munich, but an exit for fellow defender Hiroki Itō might not be in the cards.
Right now, sporting director Christoph Freund acknowledged that Boey, a right-back, is practicing away from the team — most likely to prevent any injuries. As for Itō, who was reportedly hoping for a move to AFC Ajax, the market might be be dry.
“Sacha is fit, but we’ve decided by mutual agreement that he’ll train separately because there are some discussions
taking place. There’s nothing urgent regarding Hiroki Itō. We’re planning on Hiroki staying with us,” said Freund (as captured by@iMiaSanMia).
It is key to note that by using the term “planning” Freund did leave the door at least a smidge open for Itō to leave if the right offer comes in. As the third choice left-back (at best, it could actually be lower given that Josip Stanišić started at the position in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup) and fourth choice center-back, Itō truly is a deep reserve.
