The AP Top 25 is out and the Deacs are finally ranked!
Wake comes in at 21st in the poll, ahead of LSU, Boise State, SMU, and Northwestern. Wake Forest has not been ranked in the AP Top 25 since week 10 of 2022, when a loss at #21 NC State knocked them out of the poll—perhaps it is fitting that a 38-14 win at NC State is what put them back in the rankings in 2026. The Deacs received 326 points and were ranked on
68 of the 70 ballots, including 12th by New Jersey’s Brian Fonseca and San Jose’s Jon Wilner.
It is great to finally get some recognition for starting the season off 5-1, but that little number next to the name has a habit of putting a target on a team’s back. The Deacs can’t get complacent and need to continue focusing solely on the game on the field—with Dickert at the helm, I’m not really worried that will be too much of an issue heading into the Cal game.
Go Deacs!
