Jarek’s Pre-Tipoff Thoughts:
Well ladies and gentlemen, we’ve officially hit the new year. It comes with a massive cost; most of the fall sports we hold dear with Nebraska has finished with a resounding thud. Many may blame the current run Nebrasketball is on, but hey, Nebrasketball has never done anything remotely close to this in…history. The nation’s longest win streak (I’m saying this every time I cover this) is being put on the line once again.
Many of you will watch with intent, many of you will watch debating on whether or not to hop on the bandwagon. Many of you will fear that the win streak and best start in school history will go away tonight. I have those same fears. Michigan State has always been a force to be reckoned with under Tom Izzo, and for good reason. The lone caveat to tonight is this, it’s at PBA, not the Breslin Center.
Nebraska has turned the vault into a downright fortress, and I believe they can keep it that way tonight. Michigan State’s lone loss this season was against Duke, so this will not be easy by any means. This is the first ranked vs ranked home game in PBA history, making it a bigger night than “No Sit Sunday” or when Nebraska beat #1 Purdue a couple of years ago. The crowd will be electric, the team will be jacked up, and I think Nebraska pulls off the upset. Score Prediction: Nebraska 82 Michigan State 77
