Alexander Nübel’s lengthy career as a Bayern Munich player has officially come to an end. Nübel has completed a transfer to Turkish side Beşiktaş. Since his arrival at Bayern in 2020, Nübel only made four appearances for the Rekordmeister while spending most of his time on loan deals with Monaco and Stuttgart. Nübel joined Bayern on a free transfer from Schalke as the heir apparent to Manuel Neuer for club and country but will exit with a “what if” tag hanging over his head.
“Alexander Nübel is a very
good goalkeeper who has consistently developed and established himself at FC Bayern, Monaco and Stuttgart,” said Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl (via FCBayern.com). “He now wants to take the next step at Besiktas. We wish him all the best for his future.”
Nübel is undefeated in all three of his appearances as Germany’s goalkeeper, although he has not kept a clean sheet. He served as the number three option behind Neuer and Hoffenheim’s Oliver Baumann at the 2026 World Cup. Nübel will compete with Bayern’s Jonas Urbig as the clear frontrunners for Germany’s number one spot at the 2028 EURO and 2030 World Cup.
