Dayot Upamecano is enjoying life as part of a French juggernaut that is rampaging through the World Cup field.
Because of Germany’s unexpected loss to Paraguay in the Round of 32, the defender was denied a chance to meet up with some of his Bayern Munich teammates on the pitch in the Round of 16. The good part for the center-back is that he will not have to wait too much longer to get back to seeing his club teammates on a daily basis.
Still, Upamecano wanted to send them a message.
“I wanted to play
against Germany. Unfortunately, they’re out. That’s football. Now they have to keep their heads up and simply keep going,” Upamecano told Sky Germany. “I send my greetings to all the German national team players from FC Bayern. Once we’re back at Bayern, we’ll get back to work and give it everything we’ve got. And I hope we win everything.”
Right now, it is hard to envision anyone stopping France, but Spain will get its crack on Tuesday. Can the Spaniards pull off an upset?
