As we head into summer content, Syracuse has released a new series called “Make Your Case” sponsored by Harding & Mazzotti Law. This makes us so happy for this NIL era if we can get more content like this.
If there’s a place better to break down the legal arguments of Orange players than TNIAAM, we don’t know what is, so let’s get to episode one which asked the question: Who’s the better rapper Kendrick Lamar or Drake?
Presenting the case for Drake- Steven Angeli and opposing him is Kardiear Shepherd.
It’s a bit unfair to Angeli to have to lobby for the Canadian rapper here, but you can’t argue with the case that Angeli presents. He’s showing you why he’s the leader of this team- detailed note-taking, a gameplan, the ability to remain calm under duress, it’s all there….but it wasn’t enough to sway the judge this time.
Shepherd approached the case knowing he had it in the bag. He’s confident and frankly should be a bit more deferential to the man he’s tasked to protect.
The second episode pits the starting cornerbacks against one another. Demetres Samuel makes the case for binge watching while Chris Peal argues in favor of weekly releases. Who makes the winning argument? Let’s see…
Samuel shows some courtroom savvy here. He’s got a future as a television lawyer for this glasses removal pose alone.
But the dual-threat player shows his range in the courtroom as he doesn’t simply dismiss his opponent, he compliments Peal for having a “lovely girlfriend” while making his case. This is top corner behavior- working to get in the head of his adversary.
It seems to work as Peal is trying to argue that Samuel is making his case for him, but he appears a bit rattled by the approach of his fellow corner. Hopefully we’ll see this matchup again in the future.
As we look forward to future episodes, will anyone match Angeli’s preparation or Samuel’s presence? Who will make partner at the Franchise Law Firm?
Stay tuned for more breakdowns throughout the summer.
