It is the end of the preseason for the Cincinnati Bengals, who will be on the road Friday night to take on the Philadelphia Eagles. We only have one more game to sit through before the regular season begins.
Expect to see plenty of roster bubble players trying to make their mark. Sometimes it’s important to just get some good plays on tape, even if you ultimately get cut.
So, while these players will be auditioning for their current teams, they are also auditioning for every other team in the NFL.
The life of a roster-bubble player is very fickle. Even if they land on the 53-man roster after cuts, they could be cut anytime after that.
This is all before we even talk about practice squads for teams that need to be filled. So much movement will come after this game, and it might be the last time we see these guys on the field for anything other than special teams until next year.
Enjoy the subtle beauty of it, knowing the real thing is right around the corner
