Recap
1st Inning
Anna Brewer took the circle for the Cardinal, against her, Jaysoni Beachum and Ashtyn Danley both walked with one out. Brewer got the second out, but a RBI single from Bella Ruggiero gave FSU the lead.
In the home half of the 1st, Makenna Reid gave up two singles,
which tied the game for Stanford. Another single with one out put runners in motion, but a play at the plate by Anna Hinde prevented the run. The Cardinal came up with two more RBIs to take a 3-1 lead.
2nd Inning
Ashtyn Danley took over for Reid in the 2nd, and got the first out before a triple had a runner at third base. A strike out and ground out was able to strand the runner, and prevent a fourth run.
4TH Inning
Still facing Brewer, Marin Heller and Makenna Sturgis singled with one out. Now with the lineup turned over, Isa Torres gave her team back the lead on a 3 run shot. After a single from Beachum, Stanford took out Brewer for Alyssa Houston, now down 4-3.
Back out for the 4th, Danley got her lead off batter before giving up back to back walks. Danley and the defense were able to strand the two runners and keep their one run lead.
6th Inning
FSU now faced Zoe Prystajko, who took over in the 5th inning. After two outs, Beachum extended the ‘Noles lead. A solo shot off of Prystajko made it 5-3 for FSU.
In the bottom of the inning, a solo shot put Stanford within one. A walk and the second out of the inning had a runner in scoring position, and a single tied the game at 5-5.
8th Inning
FSU and Stanford both could not get a run across in the 7th, sending the game to extra innings. Against Prystajko, the ‘Noles only had a single, and base running miscues sent it to the bottom of the 8th.
Danley got the first out before Bella Dimitrijevic came on in relief. The freshman had the bases loaded via two walks and a double. With a runner at every base, Danley re-entered and got the second out on a soft hit back to the circle. However, a single knocked in the sixth run for Stanford, and secured the series sweep for the Cardinal.
