Chelsea’s final game before the international break is an away trip to Wearside, to take on the bottom team in the Premier League, Sunderland.
The Blues are coming off a promising win against Manchester United (at least in the second half) that seems to have restored some faith in our prospects this season, while the Black Cats are just looking to get their season back on some sort of track after winning just one of their nine games thus far. We might recall that they actually finished above Chelsea
last season and qualified for Europe for the first time in club history.
So it won’t be an easy game, despite their struggles, and it certainly won’t be made any easier if Moisés Caicedo cannot play. He’s missed training this week and is dealing with some “discomfort”. His absence would be the latest major injury blow for us, with João Pedro, Reece James, and Maxence Lacroix already sidelined. Additionally, Jorrel Hato and Jamie Gittens are also out while Geovany Quenda is dealing with a knock.
In better news, Jordan Henderson is back from illness and could thus play a big role against his hometown and boyhood club while Emiliano Martínez could be in line for a return as well (thanks to a protective mask).
Choose wisely.
