Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year, we ask questions of the most plugged-in Bears fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
It feels like there’s another piece or two coming on the Chicago Bears’ defensive line. After all, last year, Chicago’s defense finished with just 35 sacks as a team, which was tied for the seventh fewest in the NFL. Their 84 QB hits were tied for the eighth-worst. Pro Football Reference
tracks QB knockdowns, which is just as you’d expect: how many times a quarterback was hit and taken to the ground after passing, and the Bears were tied for seventh worst with 40.
A second year in Dennis Allen’s scheme will help the returning players feel more comfortable and play faster, but the Bears need more talent up front. They could use another (or two or three) pass rushers.
In 2025, Montez Sweat led the Bears with 10 sacks in 17 games, with Gervon Dexter Sr. next with 6 sacks in 17 games, and Austin Booker’s 4.5 sacks in 10 games were third on the team. In QB hits, it was Sweat (18), Booker (12), and Dexter (11).
Do you think one of these three will lead the Bears in sacks in 2026, or will a new contender emerge?
