Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
Lane Johnson is not done yet – PhiladelphiaEagles.com Lane Johnson is embracing a fresh start after 13 years in the league. Since being drafted in 2013, the multiple-time All-Pro had only played under one offensive line coach. That changed this offseason with the introduction of Chris Kuper to the coaching staff. When asked about having a new offensive line coach, Johnson made his feelings clear: “I’m all about it,” Johnson told reporters after Tuesday’s
minicamp. “Coach Kuper played for lots of years in the league. So, not only coming to me as a coach but as a player, I got a lot of respect for him.” Johnson is also excited for the changes that come with a new system. “I have never had any guard help these years. It’s always been one-on-one. So having the ability to be inside and having a guard come out and help me is the big deal.”

Johnson called Stoutland’s departure a “shocking ordeal.” But he said he has had time to process the change. Kuper, he said, has garnered the respect of the offensive line room through his playing and coaching experience. Throughout the offseason program, Johnson has mostly worked remotely, tuning into meetings via Zoom. Johnson has been encouraged by the new scheme, stating that he hopes that the offense “won’t be as stagnant as it was last year,” especially regarding the run game. “You have the ability to stretch it front side, but also the running back has the ability to read backside blocks more than maybe what we did in previous years,” Johnson said. “It really does a good job of allowing us to run. We have a lot of athletic guys up front, so being able to stretch the field, make the D-tackles run, make the linebackers run, cover all this ground. “And then I think setting up with the play action is just going to be a whole lot tougher to distinguish what we’re doing. Whole lot harder to catch on tells with stuff that we’re doing. So I think this stuff, we can disguise it more.
Eagles Minicamp Practice Notes: Defense ahead of offense thus far – BGN
JALEN HURTS UPDATE: Hurts wasn’t very sharp today. Early in 7-on-7, a downfield target to DeVonta Smith with Riq Woolen trailing was overthrown and incomplete. Hurts missed a crossing DeVonta over the middle with an inaccurate pass. Hurts to DeVonta was incomplete yet again on a play where it looked like there was a tight window for the wide receiver to get the ball between Woolen and Smael Mondon Jr. Hurts was guilty of holding the ball too long on some reps to get “sacked.” One such instance might’ve wiped out what ended up being a completion to E.J. Jenkins over the middle that Hurts made by throwing against his body while rolling right. Good play if it counted, which it might not have. I wouldn’t put all of the offense’s struggles on Hurts; they’re just clearly behind the defense, which is to be expected since 1) Vic Fangio is really good, 2) it’s not unusual for defenses to be ahead of offenses at this time of year, and 3) the defense is in the third year of their system while the offense is new. Still lots of kinks to iron out.
A.J. Brown’s goodbye message to the Eagles was a VERY loaded statement – SB Nation
When it comes to best receiver ever to play for the Eagles, well, that discussion gets interesting. Terrell Owens didn’t exactly have a great run in Philly, but is undoubtedly one of the best to ever do it. Harold Carmichael holds the franchise records in yards and touchdowns, but that was largely a factor of longevity rather than individual brilliance. Jackson might be able to lay claim to the title, but leaving in 2014 and returning a much older receiver hurts his team legacy. Either way, calling yourself the GOAT after being traded and then making a quip about always being open is one heck of a statement.
Eagles minicamp practice notes: Offense way behind the defense – PhillyVoice
I had a chance to watch Uar Bernard closely, working against the third-string O-line. He got handled with ease, which is perhaps to be expected. However, I thought that what he might show right off the bat because of his pure athletic measurables was an explosive first step off the ball at the snap. But that’s just not there yet.
What Mannion can bring to Philly offense: ‘Sean is an evil genius’ – ESPN
“Even as a player, I knew this is what I wanted to do next,” Mannion said. “I knew I was going to get into coaching. So I always had that in mind as I’m learning things, how am I going to use this someday from a coaching perspective.” Mannion was recently under Packers head coach Matt LaFleur’s tutelage and is in the process of installing an offense in the Kyle Shanahan/Sean McVay mold, featuring lots of under center and pre-snap motion. These are elements the Eagles have not leaned heavily into in recent seasons in part, sources said, because Hurts has shown some resistance towards them. A team source believes Hurts is as open as he has ever been to change, however, and the early returns suggest he’s on board with Mannion — Hurts’ sixth playcaller since entering the league in 2020. “It’s been a really good process so far. He’s come in and he’s very clear, giving good direction. You can definitely see the vision,” Hurts said. “He’s been able to answer all of my questions, very instructive, very helpful, so it’s been a very enjoyable journey so far.”
What Parks Frazier enjoys about coaching Jalen Hurts – NBCSP
Parks Frazier has been the Eagles’ quarterbacks coach for just a few months but he was their passing game coordinator last season. So he has been around Jalen Hurts for a while now. And he really enjoys working with him. “It’s awesome,” Frazier said this week. “He is as dedicated to winning and wants to do whatever it takes to win more than any quarterback I’ve been around. He is phenomenal in the room, has really good questions, always wanting more. He is a sponge. So he’s been great.” The Eagles this offseason had a major shakeup to their offensive coaching staff when they hired Sean Mannion as their new offensive coordinator and then hired Josh Grizzard to be their passing game coordinator. One of the ripples of the massive shuffle was that Frazier was moved from his previous post as passing game coordinator to quarterbacks coach for the 2026 season. That means working with Hurts 1-on-1 daily.
Dallas Goedert on Eagles return: Had other opportunities, none better than Eagles return – PFT
When free agency opened in March, it looked like tight end Dallas Goedert might be moving on after eight seasons with the Eagles. Goedert kept the door open for a return by agreeing to push back the void date of his deal while he heard from other teams. That decision allowed the Eagles to postpone a big cap hit that they wound up avoiding altogether when Goedert agreed to a new one-year deal with the team. At a Tuesday press conference, Goedert was asked about what led to the decision to return. “It’s a little bit of everything. I was able to test free agency a little bit,” Goedert said. “Had opportunities to go elsewhere. Nothing was a better opportunity than I thought I could have here. Being able to play in the same place for nine years is special. It would’ve had to be something really drastic to have me try to sign somewhere else.”
Philadelphia Eagles Fantasy Football Team Preview For 2026 – FantasyLife
Win total prediction: The Eagles have won 9, 14, 11, 14, and most recently 11 games during Nick Sirianni’s five seasons as head ball coach. While it’s not safe to assume this offense is better off in 2026 than it was in 2025, the front office made enough personnel changes to believe it’s possible, and this Vic Fangio-led defense (again) looks rather loaded. Give me OVER 10.5 wins for the most complete team in the NFC East. Bold fantasy call: This Eagles rushing attack gets back to being elite, producing a familiar top-5 fantasy finish for Saquon Barkley. ADDITIONALLY, Tank Bigsby will post top-15 numbers if forced into action due to Barkley missing any time.
6 performances of note from the Patriots’ first minicamp practice – Pats Pulpit
WR A.J. Brown: Drake Maye’s newest weapon had a solid day, finishing with a pair of catches from the starting QB, including a touchdown on a high-point fade. More so than his actual performance, Brown’s usage caught our eye. He naturally was actively involved with the starters and upped his workload from his first week as a Patriot, but he also was part of an intriguing three-receiver package at one point that featured him at the Z with Kayshon Boutte as the X and DeMario Douglas in the slot.
The Maxx Crosby rumors are probably never going away – Blogging The Boys
For what it’s worth the Cowboys have already dealt away their fourth- and fifth-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft and the better of the two first-round picks that they own. Not that Crosby would go for a fourth- or fifth-round pick individually, but just for the sake of context. They could always include 2028 draft capital to get something across the goal line, again it would all depend on how close the Cowboys are at a hypothetical point in time. It goes without saying that how Donovan Ezeiruaku and Malachi Lawrence, among others, are playing matters significantly as well. Would you want to see the Cowboys re-explore this? Or are you fine letting what is dead remain dead, so to speak?
How Daronte Jones created ‘attacking’ new Washington Commanders defense – Hogs Haven
Daronte Jones was hired to revamp the Commanders defense, to create an aggressive scheme that can set the tone. Washington’s new defensive coordinator came over from Minnesota, where he worked under respected play caller Brian Flores, who has a reputation for creating exotic blitzes that can disorient the opposition. There’s an expectation that Jones will develop something similar in Washington, and while that’s in fact the case, Jones said that his system won’t just be a carbon copy of what Flores runs in Minnesota. While Jones stated that Flores “has been very instrumental in my background,” — you can bet that this defense pays homage to what’s run in Minnesota — he rattled off a bunch of coaches who have helped form his defensive philosophy. He singled out Mike Zimmer and Adam Zimmer. He mentioned Marvin Lewis and Vance Joseph, plus Dave Aranda and Lou Anarumo.
NY Giants’ GM Joe Schoen believes WR Malik Nabers will be ready Week 1 – Big Blue View
Recent evidence has led to the belief that New York Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers won’t be ready for Week 1 as he grinds through his rehab from a complicated knee surgery. Giants’ GM Joe Schoen, though, is still a believer.
