Bayern Munich boosted their chances of finishing in the top eight of the Champions League after they dispatched Atletico Madrid 2-0. It was a composed performance from the German giants despite missing several players through injury and head coach Vincent Kompany recovering from his collapse.
The Bavarians head to Mainz, a team whose home record has been torrid. No wins at home since March 2026 is a damning stat for a team considered as one of the mainstays of the Bundesliga. Unfortunately for them,
they’re hosting the only undefeated team in the whole of Europe.

Three things to know (courtesy of Bayern’s official website):
- Mainz have only earned one point from 12 in four home games in the Bundesliga, a joint-lowest record along with Borussia Mönchengladbach.
- During Bayern’s last visit to Mainz, they overcame a 3-0 deficit at halftime to win 4-3. This was only the third time that Bayern won a match after being three goals down at the break.
- Dayot Upamecano has not lost in 52 Bundesliga games.
Prediction
Bayern wins 3-0. Bayern will capitalize on Mainz’s poor form and get a comfortable win. Kane will score one, Upamecano heads one in from a corner, and Bischof fires one top bins before near the end of the match.
