In an alternate timeline in which college athletics programs are bought and sold like professional franchises, a new analysis found that Texas football would be valued at more than $2.2. billion—the highest in the nation, more than runner-up program in the study, Texas A&M, which fetched a valuation of whopping $1.59 billion.
The study was led by Dr. Ryan Brewer, an associate professor of finance at Indiana University Columbus.
The Wall Street Journal was first to report the story.
By comparison, a Forbes
valuation of the Dallas Cowboys last year found that the franchise was worth $13 billion.
