Earlier this week, we published our latest SB Nation Reacts survey, sponsored by the folks at FanDuel Sportsbook, and asked Detroit Lions fans two questions:
- Will the Lions beat the Dolphins in Week 9? (weekly question)
- Are you confident the Lions are headed in the right direction? (recurring poll)
Confidence polls have been a journey this year. Let’s take a quick look at how things have changed throughout the first eight weeks of the season:
- Opening confidence: 89%
- Following Week 1 OT win over Saints: 63%
- Week 2 Loss to Bills: 48%
- Week 3 Win over the Jets: 78%
- Week 4 Loss in Carolina: 12%
- Week 5 Win in Arizona: 69%
- Week 6 BYE: 75%
- Week 7 win over the Packers: 86%
- Week 8 win over the Vikings: 90%
And just like that, confidence in the direction of this team hits a new season high, and to be honest, deservedly so. The Vikings have given teams problems at a historic rate this season, but the Lions
not only matched their aggression and bullied them on the ground, but also gave the rest of the NFL a blueprint for how to take on the genius Brian Flores.
With that win over the Vikings, the Lions are riding a three-game win streak, and now they head south to take on the rebuilding Miami Dolphins (1-6). The folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook believe Detroit will keep the streak alive in Week 9, setting the opening betting line at Lions -7 points, and the fans enthusiastically agree:
