Edge defender Brian Burns, questionable for the New York Giants with a hip injury, will play on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. That is the good news. The bad news is that the Giants’ secondary will be short-handed without starting cornerback Paulson Adebo and starting safety Jevon Holland, both out with knee injuries suffered last week against the Denver Broncos.
The much-maligned Deonte Banks seems likely to start in Adebo’s place. Dane Belton should start in Holland’s spot. If and when
the Giants need to go deeper into the bench in the secondary, it is anyone’s guess who defensive coordinator Shane Bowen will call on.
The Eagles will also be without a pair of key starters. Star wide receiver A.J. Brown will miss the game with a hamstring injury, perhaps a break for the Giants depleted secondary. Starting center Cam Jurgens will also miss the game for Philadelphia.
The Eagles will also be without former Giants Adoree’ Jackson and Azeez Ojulari. Jackson, a cornerback, has a concussion. Ojulari, an edge defender, has a hamstring injury.
