Better to be safe than sorry …
Following UFC Sacramento last night (Sat., Aug. 22, 2026) inside Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California, promotion officials confirmed to MMAmania.com that one fighter was transported to a local hospital for precautionary reasons after sustaining damage during his bout.
The lone fighter transported was Lerryan Douglas.
Douglas (14-6) was sent to the hospital for precautionary CT scans of his head and face following his first-round knockout loss to Jamall Emmers in the featured
preliminary bout (watch highlights).
Douglas entered the matchup as a massive -380 betting favorite, but Emmers landed a clean right hand that ended the fight less than four minutes into the opening round.
The loss snapped “Gunslinger’s” six-fight winning streak and handed him his first UFC defeat.
Douglas turned heads in his Octagon debut when he violently knocked out Julian Erosa in less than four minutes at UFC Seattle (watch highlights). Before that, the Brazilian earned his UFC contract by smoking Cam Teague in just 36 seconds on Contender Series.
During UFC Sacramento fight week, Douglas revealed that two Top 15 Featherweights turned him down, and considering the result, they might be kicking themselves for that.
At this time, the results of Douglas’ scans have not been publicly disclosed.
It is normal for UFC to transport fighters to the hospital for precautionary reasons, especially after fighters are involved in damaging three-round battles, suffer nasty knockouts or sustain injuries that need additional evaluation.
