Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala has had to fight to get his career back on track in recent years. From what we know, his difficulties started in the 2024/25 season. A truly unfortunate injury saw the former Chelsea FC youngster miss the last few months of the season, including the Bundesliga triumph and the climactic Champions League exit to Inter Milan. Nevertheless, he fought to return and celebrated his comeback in the 2025 Club World Cup, donning the #10 shirt for the first time. Any celebrations
were immediately halted, however, when a horrible incident saw Musiala’s ankle twisted in all the wrong ways.
A long road to recovery was the result. Musiala may have made his official comeback from that injury in January 2026 but getting back to his old form was never going to happen so quickly. Nonetheless, he has endured massive criticism from fans, pundits and critics alike as his road to recovery has not gone quite as smoothly as many had hoped.
Furthermore, it is now public knowledge that he has been diagnosed with absence seizures, which saw him collapse in back to back friendlies against RB Leipzig and FC Heidenheim.
It is a lot for anybody, let alone a young adult such as Musiala. Speaking to Sky Germany reporter Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern captain Manuel Neuer reiterated support for Musiala and asked for his understanding for his situation: “You can’t underestimate what he’s been through. He’s made a fantastic contribution and has already helped the team a lot, even after his injury. You have to put everything into perspective. So I think he’s on a great path. There’s no doubt that things would have been better without the injuries. But considering the serious nature of his injury, he’s done really well.”
It would be foolish to write off Musiala any time soon. The club and the team are united behind him, so let us see just how well the incredibly talented forward can bounce back. And hope for the best.
