It was another tight one against the Wildcats, nut we walked away having clinched a double-bye in the conference tournament. Win tonight and lock in either the 2- or the 3-seed, each step up in rank giving us a better chance at an easier matchup in our quarterfinal tournament game and hopefully another shot at a big name in the semifinal (or even South Carolina, the guaranteed 1-seed, in the championship).
We rebounded much better against Kentucky the second time out. We’ll want to keep that up against the Tide,
who do edge us out in boards. Jessica Timmons scores the most for them, followed by the only other 10-points-per-game player, Essence Cody, but the teams seems like it plays a balanced game. Scoring, rebounding, passing, and everything else all seem less concentrated on this Crimson Tide squad than in the Sarah Ashlee Barker (who I never liked because she played for my rival high school and always creamed us) years. We, of course, do put a lot on just a few players, at least within each segment of the game. I think Alabama can’t find an answer to that tonight and we march one step closer to a 1-seed. Texas, who we beat, remains just a couple votes above us in the polls. They play Georgia tonight, and I’ll be checking that score throughout the game.
