Nebraska 3-Indiana 0
25-19, 25-16, 25-22
The Huskers took a quick trip to Bloomington, Indiana to take on the Indiana Hoosiers tonight for a Top 20 matchup. The cheapest ticket to this match was $652 and it has been sold out since September.
B1G+ was still doing their thing getting almost every Husker position messed up in their starting lineup graphic. Olivia Mauch came out in the libero jersey tonight after Laney Choboy was libero just 2 days ago against Iowa. Maybe this decision had something to do with
Choboy possibly forgetting her jerseys as she was wearing #17 tonight.
Nebraska started very slowly tonight compared to the home Indiana Hoosiers. They were high error and the defense looked a little shaky and cold to start the match. A challenged Harper Murray kill, that was called out at first, would help the Huskers gain momentum.
A nice block by Virginia Adriano and Rebekah Allick also jump started the team and made sure the defense started to look good as well. After this, the Huskers blew the set open with the Hoosiers trying to hurry behind them.
When the Huskers went to serve, in the 1st and 3rd sets, it looked like Indiana had some student hecklers that liked to get up close and personal when they served balls. I wonder what they were saying to them. Harper Murray might let us know on TikTok later.
Nebraska was the first team to 20 in set# 1 and going into this match they were 77-0 when reaching the red zone first. They kept this going with a set 1 win after a shaky start that even put the Huskers into negative hitting numbers for a few points.
Virginia Adriano led all hitters with 6 kills while Andi Jackson led hitting at a clip of .500%, going 3 for 4 with 1 error. Like I said before, the Huskers turned it around in this set and hit .306% while holding a strong attacking Indiana team to .143%.
Set 2 started with the Huskers coming out and getting a little lead which was a change from the 1st set when they struggled. They ended up reverting back to those 1st set ways though as Indiana took over after the Huskers’ early run.
They were able to quickly come together and retake the lead quicker than they did in the 1st and blew open the match from there. They reached 20 points first again and, of course, won the set. Virginia Adriano also tacked on an ace this set after her big serving night against Iowa on Thursday.
Nebraska was able to increase their hitting numbers in the 2nd set. Their shakiness didn’t last as long and they were able to recover a little quicker to improve their numbers to .385%. They also contained Indiana a little better decreasing their numbers to .000%.
Nebraska set the tone early in set 3 taking the early lead off of some Harper Murray and Andi Jackson kills. Teraya Sigler also got some looks at the outside as well. The Huskers and Hoosiers kind of went back and forth in the 3rd with Nebraska getting points to take a little bit of a lead, then Indiana gaining ground, but never getting that lead.
Laney Choboy, in her #17 jersey, recorded an ace late in the 3rd to help the Huskers reach 20 points first again extending that streak to 80-0, and giving the Huskers another sweep and they also won the B1G Title outright now.
Harper Murray led the team in kills with 11 tonight with Virginia Adriano and Andi Jackson following them up with 9 each. Jackson hit .538% tonight going 9 for 13, with 2 errors.
Adriano was all over the score sheet also adding 6 blocks which was the team high tonight. Andi Jackson and Rebekah Allick were right before her with 4 each.
The Huskers only have 2 matches remaining on the schedule tonight and they are both home matches this time.
On Friday, the Huskers will play Penn State for the second time this season where the Nittany Lions will probably want some revenge for earlier in the season. That match is set to begin at 5:30PM CST on B1G Network.
They will wrap up the regular season on Saturday night against Ohio State. This will also most likely be their senior night as well. This match is set to begin at 8:00PM CST and will be on B1G Network as well.
