The Big Ten released its weekly award list for the third week of the regular season and Maryland and Nebraska split the weekly honors. Maryland’s David Coit was named Big Ten Player of the Week and Braden
Frager was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Both turned heads with their performances.
While Maryland’s experienced a mixed start to the season, Coit has been one of the bright spots. He had to step up significantly with the Terps shorthanded last week and put together an impressive performance in Maryland’s win over Mount St. Mary’s, finishing with 41 points. That output was enough to be third-most in Maryland basketball history for a single-game. It was his first Player of the Week award and he was the first Terp to earn the honor since Jahmir Young in January of 2024.
Frager also had a nice week for the Huskers, averaging 18 points and seven rebounds per game in Nebraska’s wins over New Mexico and Kansas State. He was particularly impressive against the Lobos, finishing with 20 points and eight rebounds in the win. Fans are hoping he can continue elevating his game. This is the first time Frager has earned Freshman of the Week honors. He’s the first Husker to do so since Jamarques Lawrence did it in March of 2023.
Congratulations are in order for both players. Don’t be surprised if they show back up on this list given how they have played to date either.
