Aaron Boone shared a more positive update on Jazz Chisholm Jr. ahead of the series opener against the Rays on Tuesday.
The Yankees infielder is tobe activated between games of the doubleheader and is expected to return to the lineup for the second game against Tampa Bay. Chisholm Jr. initially landed on the injured list approximately two weeks ago with a right thumb sprain.
He was always expected to return for the postseason, but it will certainly be exciting to see him get some reps before all the chaos
begins. Missing Aaron Judge from the Wild Card series, the Pinstripes will need all the power they can get to gain some momentum on offense. This also raises some key questions about who will be put where in the infield once the postseason comes along.
“I’ll see you in the second game,” Chisholm Jr. said as he passed through the clubhouse.
