The UEFA Champions League returns with Matchday 11 as the round of 16 begins. This stage of the competition often brings a fresh challenge for Fantasy managers, as squad selections become even more important with fewer teams remaining.
Managers also have the chance to reshape their squads ahead of the knockout round, which means many teams will look different compared to earlier matchdays.
With strong options from clubs such as Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain, choosing the
right combination of premium players and differentials could make a huge difference.
With the Matchday 11 deadline set for Tuesday at 18:45 CET, managers will be making their final adjustments before the first kick-off. With that in mind, here is how my team is shaping up ahead of the Matchday 11 matches.
UCL Matchday 11 Team
Starting in goal is Joan Garcia, and selecting him away at St. James’ Park is a bold decision in my team. Newcastle have been very strong at home this season and their attacking style can cause problems for any defence.
However, Garcia has played an important role in Barcelona’s defensive setup under Hansi Flick. If he can help keep the Magpies quiet and come away with a clean sheet, he could easily finish the matchday as one of the top-scoring goalkeepers in the game.
In defence, I have selected Virgil van Dijk, Dávid Hancko, and Dayot Upamecano. Van Dijk travels with Liverpool to face Galatasaray in Istanbul. His experience at the back will be very important, especially if Liverpool can keep a clean sheet.
Upamecano also has a tough game against Atalanta, who are strong in attack, especially at home. This makes him a slightly risky pick, but he can still earn points through other defensive actions.
Completing the defence is Hancko, who faces Tottenham. Spurs often leave space at the back when they attack, and with their recent struggles against quick breaks, Hancko could get a chance to help in attack while still doing his defensive job.
My midfield stands out with attacking threat, Doubling up on Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez shows my faith in Hansi Flick’s system to unlock Newcastle.
Vinicius Junior is one of the most important players in the game right now, and I feel he is a must-have for the Manchester City match.
Finally, Ademola Lookman adds a differential option. If Atalanta manages to trouble Bayern, Lookman is likely to be at the center of the action and could make a big impact.
All eyes are on the front three. Erling Haaland was rested for Manchester City’s recent trip to Newcastle to make sure he is fully fit for the clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday. I am relying on him to be sharp and decisive in attack.
My captain, Julian Alvarez, leads Atletico’s frontline on Tuesday, facing a Tottenham side that is currently in a defensive crisis. His runs into space behind their defence make him a very strong captain choice.
Kasper Hogh completes my attack as a differential pick against Bodo/Glimt. The Norwegian side have shown they can compete with some of Europe’s best teams this season, putting in strong performances against Inter, Manchester City, and Atletico Madrid.
Hogh, who also takes penalties, has been involved in seven goals in 10 Champions League games, showing his threat in attack. This match is a good chance for him to score and make an impact.
On the bench, David Raya, Achraf Hakimi, Desire Doue, and Gabriel if fit offers defensive cover with some threat from set pieces.
