Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown just took a hit.
Overshown was fined for his own hit, one that he delivered to Cardinals running back Bam Knight last week, by way of a fine from the NFL.
Tom Pelissero noted that the fine is for just north of $9,500, and as always it is difficult to parse through the NFL’s logic on fines for things
like this.
First of all, there is no question that the hit that Overshown laid was significant. It was obvious right away that Knight needed help after it and we are certainly rooting for him. It feels like everyone shares the opinion that his wellness was and is the top priority.
Relative to the hit and now fine, the hit was debated on the FOX broadcast while Knight was being tended to. Greg Olsen thought it was a bit suspect, but FOX’s rules official described it to be clean as far as the rules of the game are concerned. Yet here we are with the fine.
You never know how the NFL is going to approach these things. Now DeMarvion Overshown is slightly more aware.
