Last week, the Green Bay Packers had to make a decision: Who would start at tight end in place of Tucker Kraft, who was lost for the season with an ACL tear against the Carolina Panthers? Even though the Packers had used both Luke Musgrave and John FitzPatrick as the team’s TE2 behind Kraft at different points in 2025, it was Musgrave who took over after Kraft went down against the Panthers.
In Week 10, Musgrave made his first start in the team’s lone tight end sets in 2025. Overall, he played 77
percent of the offense’s snaps against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Then, Week 11 happened. On paper, Musgrave had two targets for one reception and -1 yards against the New York Giants, but the reality of those targets was much worse. Mugrave fumbled out of bounds on his one credited reception, and the other target was a play where he clearly fumbled, but the Packers lucked out when the replay crew stated that he never had possession of the ball before the fumble. I still don’t buy it, and think Green Bay got away with one.
In the first half, Musgrave played 16 snaps, FitzPatrick played 16 and Josh Whyle, recently called up from the practice squad, played 8. In the second half, though, Musgrave only played 2 snaps, while FitzPatrick played 16 and Whyle played 11. Clearly, Musgrave was benched after fumbling on both of his targets, even if the second one wasn’t credited.
So here’s the question for you today: Who would you start for the rest of the year and why?
