It seems that Kendre Miller and Alvin Kamara will have to take control of the rushing attack for the foreseeable future, as leading rusher Travis Etienne Jr. will likely miss time with a hamstring injury.
Saints head coach Kellen Moore met with the media today and gave an update regarding Etienne Jr., stating that he is expected to have “time lost.” Moore went on to say, “We’ll see ultimately what that timeline looks like. It’s just an unfortunate thing.”
Etienne was working through a hamstring issue
in the same leg throughout last week. The injury occurred in the third quarter when Etienne broke off a 16-yard run to the right side. As he was running down the sideline, he slowed down, reached for the back of his left leg, and took a hard hit out of bounds. That would ultimately be his final appearance in the game.
Etienne was a vital offseason acquisition for the Saints, especially with the team’s need to elevate its rushing attack. Now, the run game falls squarely on the shoulders of Miller and Kamara as the Saints prepare for a Monday night matchup against the Falcons in the Dome.
