If ever there was a game to dig a grave and bury the football, this was it. The headlines below tell most of the sordid tale, beginning with Drake Maye – and the coaching staff by proxy. This loss was a complete 3-phase effort.
Last week I wondered if the win vs. Pittsburgh would start a streak, and now I’m wondering the same thing, but in reverse. The Steelers were one of eight teams that won yesterday after losing last week. (If they watched any Patriots highlights from Week 3, they probably felt
even worse about Week 2.) But the point is, the team bounced back competitively and they beat the 2-0 Bengals.
The Pats face the juggernaut Bills next week. Buffalo was a loss waiting to happen Sunday but overcame five turnovers to beat the Chargers 24-16, with Josh Allen punching in two rushing TDs and James Cook running for 154 yards. Can the Pats bounce back like that? Right now, the Magic Eight Ball waffles between “Very doubtful” and “Reply hazy, try again.” That’s what the entire team will have to do… Try again.
