The Brewers have found the Cubs to be the stumbling block to their historic winning streak, but with Thursday’s finale, the Brewers still have a chance at salvaging another win before heading back to Milwaukee.
Quinn Priester makes his 19th start today, carrying a 3.48 ERA into the outing. He has only surrendered more than two runs in one of his last seven outings. In that span, he pitched against the Cubs back on July 29. He went 5 2/3 innings while allowing two runs and striking out three batters
in that game, but that was a home start.
For the Cubs, lefty Shota Imanaga takes the mound. He had a 2.54 ERA entering July, but has since put up a 3.54 mark. That’s still a respectable performance, of course, but he’s rediscovered his earlier dominance in recent weeks. In his last four starts, his strikeout rate has climbed from 6.35 to 10.80 K/9.
Milwaukee’s batting order starts with Sal Frelick in the leadoff spot. With Frelick in right field, he’ll be joined by center fielder Brandon Lockridge and left fielder Isaac Collins.
Around the infield, Caleb Durbin, Joey Ortiz, Brice Turang, and Andrew Vaughn start from left to right. With William Contreras at catcher, Christian Yelich is the last to slot in at designated hitter.
Tonight’s first pitch from Wrigley Field is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network.
