The Yankees are facing elimination for the second time in this postseason, and their odds of making it out alive this time are even more precarious – they’ll need to take three straight games against the Blue Jays, including a do-or-die Game 5 in Toronto where they’ve been abysmal all year. The season could well and truly be over by the time we get to the end of this week, but until it’s all said and done there’s still baseball left to be played.
Despite it being a mere five-game sample to this point,
much can be made about the Yankees’ performance this postseason. The mercurial nature of their bullpen extended to the entire staff, as the rotation went from dominating the Red Sox to getting rocked by Toronto. The offense has wasted numerous opportunities to put up a crooked number, mainly coming through in one inning of Game 3 against Boston and in garbage time in Game 2 against Toronto. What has been the team’s biggest flaw this October? Why did an offense this deep suddenly get shutdown across the board? What changes should be made if they don’t pull off the comeback? If you have questions like this, or anything else on your mind, send ‘em in for a chance to be featured in our Yankees mailbag.
Answers will run on Friday afternoon. All questions received by the night of October 9th will be considered. You can leave your submissions in the comment section below or by e-mail to pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
