Now that the Street Fighter movie is out and WWE stars Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns are getting love for their performances as Guile and Akuma, respectively, other wrestlers are fielding questions on what video game character they may want to play in a film.
Screen Rant asked Seth Rollins and got this answer:
“I would love to play Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid. I loved Metal Gear Solid growing up, all the iterations of it. I even just went back and played Snake Eater recently. So, I think I would make
a good Snake.”
I’ll just go ahead and say it.
No.
Absolutely not.
I’m a big fan of the Metal Gear series, and was one of the many who revolted when David Hayter was replaced in the video games. Solid Snake has a signature voice, and while Rollins has the right look/build to play the character, that voice simply cannot ever be attached to the legendary soldier.
A Metal Gear Solid movie has been in the works for what feels like forever, with filmmaking duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein now attached. At one point, Oscar Isaac was slated to play Snake but he is no longer attached to the project.
Either way, even if the role is available, it simply cannot go to Seth Rollins.
Not with that voice.
Am I wrong?
