For the Cincinnati Bengals fans breathing a sign of relief after Joe Burrow avoided disaster a couple times in last night’s preseason game against the Washington Commanders, it’s time to inhale again.
The superstar quarterback was asked by Kelsey Conway if the game was his last action in the preseason.
Here is what Burrow said:
We’ll have those conversations this week. I know it’s a short week, so I doubt it, but I always find those reps valuable, and I can get better from those. Whatever Zac decides.
I’m happy to go out there and play as well.
He then highlighted the value of the reps he’s gotten so far:
[There have been] some good learning experiences in the couple drives that we’ve had. We got some fumbles out of the way. So that was good. Those are just incredibly valuable reps that usually work out those kinks in the first couple weeks of the regular season, and we’ve worked them out the last two weeks.
For those who missed it, Burrow was his usual aggressive self, even after Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins headed to the sideline, trying to make something out of nothing against the Commanders.
So while he may still have some rust to shake off, it would be a bit unreasonable to risk him playing a single snap against the Indianapolis Colts this Saturday.
In other news, the Bengals are hosting Dalton Risner today. Adding the veteran guard to the offense would decrease the chances of another Burrow injury tremendously. I talked about the value he would add in the video below.
