The football world is abuzz currently after it was reported by The Athletic that Manchester City have been found guilty of 114 of the 115 financial rules they were accused of breaching by the Premier League.
An official verdict is still yet to be made, and has been a long time coming, but is now expected to send shockwaves across the football world and have an impact across the Premier League and Europe.
It’s still unclear what sanctions may be imposed on City if they are indeed found guilty. There
is talk of points deductions, relegation fines, and titles being stripped. There’s also a possibility the club could lose it’s top players.
And that’s where it gets interesting from a Barcelona point of view. The club have long been linked with a move for goal machine Erling Haaland, with the striker believed to be president Joan Laporta’s “dream” signing.
Barcelona are also a little short on strikers after a summer which saw the club miss out on Julian Alvarez following the departures of Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski.
Raphinha has of course come in and done a superb job as No. 9 but it would be no surprise if Barcelona did try and sign a striker again next summer.
