LFC not going to pursue ‘unrealistic’ Bayern star (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg via @iMiaSanaMia)
Liverpool was rumored to be a serious suitor for Bayern Munich star Michael Olise, but Arne Slot’s club is bailing out.
As it stands, though, the Reds do not see Bayern Munich selling Olise any time soon:
Liverpool would naturally like to have Michael Olise, but contrary to other reports, they’re not planning any move for the Frenchman as he has no release clause and is an unrealistic target. Therefore Liverpool are pursuing other names. Olise is not a concrete target for them.
There is virtually no
shot that Bayern Munich would sell Olise. The Frenchman has developed into a top player in Bavaria and while there will be a big bid on him eventually, it is not likely to happen any time before 2027 or 2028.
ICYMI: Everton fights each other, still beats United (@NBCSportsSoccer)
Nevermind that Everton’s Idrissa Gana Gueye tried to fight teammate Michael Keane, which resulted in a rare same team-on-same team red card…Everton won the game 1-0 over Manchester United:
How embarrassing for the Red Devils…
Matthäus advocates for Karl’s inclusion with Germany for World Cup (Goal)
Bayern Munich and German national team legend Lothar Matthäus has watched Lennart Karl and loves what he sees.
In fact, Matthäus thinks Karl could mount a strong challenge to make the German national team.
“He has every opportunity to become a great in German football. He has the right environment at FC Bayern, comes into a functioning team and has already scored important points with his dribbling and self-confidence – also in his interviews,” Matthäus said. “He’s a very big candidate, because players like that, who have something special, are in demand at a tournament like this,” he added. “These street footballers who don’t just let themselves be forced into a system, but also do what they smell and feel at that moment – and that’s Lennart Karl.”
It seems like so much is happening so quickly that is it almost natural to be overcautious about Karl. It seems as if the natural inclination for many fans is to not want to set themselves up for disappointment if Karl ends up being a flash in the pan.
Maybe, though, it might be better to just buy a ticket for this ride and see where it takes us. It is okay to throw caution into the wind sometimes.
Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United pursuing Yildiz (ESPN)
Former Bayern Munich prospect Kenan Yildiz continues to bolster his reputation, and now Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United are interested:
Arsenal are hoping to steal a march on Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United in a move for Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz, says Football Insider. Yildiz, 20, is one of the most exciting young attacking players in Europe and has six goals and five assists in 18 games so far this season. The Turkey international has a contract until 2029, but is stalling over an extension and that has a host of top Premier League clubs looking to take advantage of the situation.
Karl, Upamecano, Olise earn recognition (Kicker via @iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich stars Lennart Karl, Dayot Upamecano, and Michael Olise were all named to Kicker’s Bundesliga team of the Week for their respective performances vs. SC Freiburg:
In addition, Karl and Olise were named to WhoScored.com’s Bundesliga Team of the Week:
The honors are well-deserved, but there is not much time to celebrate with a massive showdown against Arsenal in the Champions League looming on Wednesday.
Spat between Vinícius Júnior, Alonso could force move at Real Madrid (The Athletic)
The relationship between Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso and star attacker Vinícius Júnior has become so strained that the Brazilian is said to be contemplating a move:
There were rumors during the summer that Vinícius Júnior was open to a move to Bayern Munich. However, it remains to be seen if that is still the case and if Bayern Munich would be open to such a deal.
Real has narrowed list to three center-back targets — including Upamecano (The Hard Tackle)
Real Madrid will be on the market for a center-back this summer, but has — allegedly — narrowed down its list to Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté, Crystal Palace’s Marc Guéhi, and Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano:
Real Madrid are set to decide from a pool of three centre-backs potentially available on a free transfer next summer, including Liverpool mainstay Ibrahima Konate. According to Fichajes, Real Madrid could make a decision soon on their preferred choice of centre-back signing next summer. The Spanish giants are looking at three potential free agents in Ibrahima Konate, Marc Guehi and Dayot Upamecano, with a decision on one widely expected soon.
Real Madrid will prioritise signing a new centre-back at the very least in future windows. A January arrival seems unlikely at the moment, as Florentino Perez has set his sights on three potential free agents ahead of next summer, as Liverpool mainstay Ibrahima Konate, Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Dayot Upamecano of Bayern Munich all on that list.
Liverpool are set to offer Konate a new deal, but there are considerable doubts about whether the Frenchman will continue at Merseyside. Apart from Real Madrid, there will be more suitors, as the centre-back is widely seen as one of the talented defenders around.
Real Madrid are also optimistic about landing Guehi, with Liverpool still seen as the front runners for the Crystal Palace star. The England international is not expected to stay at Selhurst Park, while his profile perfectly fits into what Perez wants at the Bernabeu.
Dayot Upamecano reportedly prefers Real Madrid as his next destination, or his other choice is to stay at Bayern Munich. PSG are also in the mix for the Frenchman, and so are Liverpool, as he too represents a top draw option for Real Madrid ahead of next summer.
Given Upamecano’s statements over the week, this is curious. In one context, the Frenchman painted a picture which makes it seem like he could re-up with Bayern Munich easily. In another, though, if it is “not about money”, that does leave things open to interpretation.
Hopefully, the Upamecano-Bayern Munich contract saga is resolved soon.
