Bayern Munich kickstarted their Champions League journey with a big 3-1 win over world champions Chelsea in a game where the hosts were resolute throughout the match. Speaking after the game, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany noted that it was an intense game and that his men played at their best.
“It was a very intensive game, that’s how I perceived it from the sideline,” Kompany said (as captured by account @iMiaSanMia). “The boys had fun on the pitch and deserved to win the game. We already faced difficult
opponents this season: Tottenham in pre-season, Stuttgart and Leipzig.

“But of course we know that Chelsea are the Club World Cup champions. The concentration was very good today, we played our game and didn’t lose focus. It was important to be aggressive without leaving too much space and not to lose many duels. We did that well. We keep going.”
The Bavarians travel to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga this weekend.
Bayern Munich hosted Chelsea in one of the most intriguing matchups on the second round of Matchday 1 in the Champions League’s League Phase.
The Bavarians were able to tough out a rugged 3-1 victory in a match that was not all that pleasing to the eye. Harry Kane’s brace and an own goal from Chelsea paced Bayern Munich. While Chelsea did some good things (including a terrific first half counterattack for a goal), the Londoners did not have enough gas in the tank to keep up with the German powerhouse.
Let’s get into the details, this is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
