Wardell Stephen Curry Sr. — better known as Dell Curry — is having his jersey retired by the Charlotte Hornets, per Shams Charania of ESPN.
Dell played 10 of his 16 seasons for the Hornets, retiring as the franchise’s leader in points (9,839) and three-point field goals made (929). He has since been surpassed on the all-time-points leaderboard by Kemba Walker (12,009).
The Charlotte Hornets are retiring Dell Curry’s No. 30 jersey on March 19, sources tell ESPN. Curry, the 1994 Sixth Man of the Year,
ranks second in points in franchise history and spent 10 of his 16 NBA seasons in Charlotte (1988-98). He currently serves as a team ambassador. pic.twitter.com/coSL3ntP5a

A consensus second-team All-American, Dell played for Virginia Tech in college. He currently serves as color commentator for the Hornets broadcast, a role he has played for 17 years. Combined with his playing career, Dell has been with the Hornets organization for a total of 27 years.
His son, Stephen Curry, also wears no. 30 for the Golden State Warriors. Since Dell’s no. 30 jersey is being retired by the Hornets, if Steph should decide to end his career with his hometown team, he will have to wear a jersey other than no. 30 — unless Dell gives his blessing.
