The Pittsburgh Steelers created $18 million in cap space after reworking D.K. Metcalf’s contract. That is a significant chunk of money, which will lead to speculation about Joey Porter Jr.’s potential contract extension. The star cornerback will likely become the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL, and any salary cap addition will only strengthen confidence in getting a deal done.
Taking care of the members from the same draft class has been a pattern, and Porter Jr. is next up. The draft class has several
hits and should be viewed as an overall success. Teams would be envious of having three players ink a second contract.
Something tells me an extension is close, and a breaking news alert from either Ian Rapoport or Adam Schefter is coming sooner rather than later.
