Typically, at this time of year, the headlines are filled with stories from spring training camps as Major League Baseball teams prepare for their upcoming campaign. However, things are a little bit different this season with the World Baseball Classic being played until the middle of this month.
The games are being played at four different cities around the globe: San Juan, Puerto Rico; Houston, Texas; Tokyo, Japan; and Miami, Florida. The action began on March 5 and will conclude in South Florida on March 17.
Of particular interest to Detroit Tigers fans was the inclusion of Tarik Skubal, who pitched in one game for Team USA, then took his ball and went home — much to the ire of many fans. Making matters worse, the American team went out on Tuesday and got knocked out of pool play by Team Italy, 8-6, and will have to watch and wait to see how the final results of Pool B shake out.
There are plenty of other storylines as well with seven more days left to play, which brings us to today’s broadly open discussion here at Bless You Boys. Let us know your hot takes from the WBC so far, as well as anything else that might be on your mind, in the comments below.
