Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul threw down in a Heavyweight boxing match earlier tonight (Fri., Dec. 19, 2025) live on Netflix inside Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. After an eventful six rounds, Joshua emerged victorious via knockout.
In the first round, Paul made his strategy clear. He made the most of the larger-than-usual ring, dancing around the ring and occasionally trying to stick Joshua with jabs. The British boxer advanced behind wide swings and landed to the body occasionally, but he also
whiffed on quite a few shots. Paul went full punch-and-clutch, doing his best to avoid Joshua’s power.
As the rounds wore on, Paul’s cardio began to fail him, and he couldn’t maintain his strategy well. He started getting sloppy, falling into clinches and collapsing to the floor afterward. He shot more than one double leg. Joshua was frustrated by Paul’s ability to avoid the fight, but the tide turned hard in the fifth. After warning Paul more than once, the referee started calling Paul’s takedown attempts knockdowns.
By the sixth, Paul was exhausted and couldn’t fall to the floor anymore without punishment. He was forced to trade with the bigger man, and though he landed a right or two, he was very clearly outgunned. Joshua put together a nice combination and then finished with a spectacular right hand, scoring the first true knockdown of the fight.
The referee mercifully intervened, saving Paul from further damage.

It wasn’t a ton of fun to watch, but Paul did his best and might have even won a round or two. Unfortunately for him, the gap in size and skill was clear. As soon as Paul couldn’t stall out the action with movement and clinches, he was promptly destroyed. I don’t know that anyone was particularly impressed by Joshua taking this long to seal the deal, but he ultimately got the job done!
The road remains clear for Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury in 2026.
