There have been rumors for over a week now that Italian prospect Luigi Suigo could be taking his talents to the Main Line for the 2026-27 season, but we’ve received our most official report yet with DraftExpress’ Jonathan Givony stating
“Mega’s Luigi Suigo measured 7’2.75 barefoot and 289 pounds at the NBA Draft Combine, with a 7’5.5 wingspan and 9’6 standing reach. Absurd measurements for the 19-year old Italian projected first-rounder, who appears to be Villanova-bound.”
That last part is what will understandably draw the attention of the Wildcat faithful, as Suigo himself recently implied that he would withdraw from the draft if he is not a top-20 pick. Although Givony states he’s a projected first-rounder, it is likely that he would be near the end of the first. Most view this draft class as one of the best in recent memory, whereas next year’s class does not appear to be anywhere near as strong. If that is the case, it would be smart of Suigo to play a season in college before leaving for the NBA.
Suigo and all other international players have until 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 13 to withdraw from the NBA draft. But given that the combine ends on May 17, Suigo should make his intentions known well before then. Needless to say, the addition of the 7’3” big man would unlock another level that Villanova can compete at next season.
