As basketball season creeps closer and closer, fans are beginning to take a look at this year’s edition of the Scarlet Knights.
If you take another look into the future, you will see a 2027 class that is coming together very nicely for Rutgers.
The Scarlet Knights currently have the No. 3 overall recruiting class in 2027 and the top class in the Big Ten, according to 247Sports Composite. Yes, it is very early, but this is a great start for Rutgers.
For reference, the best class in program history featuring
five-stars Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey finished fourth nationally. This tells us two things at the same time — it is hard to remain near the top of these rankings with the big dogs but it also shows how impressive the class is early on.
It took another step when four-star Brandon Woodard announced his commitment to Rutgers. He is currently ranked No. 72 overall in the class and the No. 3 player in Maryland, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-8 prospect joined fellow four-star RJ Moore, who is Rutgers’ highest-rated recruit in the class at No. 48 nationally and No. 1 in North Carolina. The Scarlet Knights also have a commitment from three-star guard Korey Francis.
Rutgers has one open scholarship remaining for the 2027-28 season but that is a year away. With this era of college hoops, it is impossible to know how it will all play out. What we know now is the Scarlet Knights are making effective moves in 2027.
