The Los Angeles Rams looked awful in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers, how else can you put it? In Week 2, the Rams made some mistakes, and yet, they found a way to win 28-6 over a New York Giants team that looked darn near excellent in Week 1. The Rams and perhaps Week 2 in general should be a reminder to all watchers that a lot can change in a week. That rule applies to both life and the NFL.
Going into Week 3, which narratives will change? Will narrative will stay true? With poor play, injuries
and more factors than you can think of you never know what’s going to happen. But we do know what happened, and right now, the Rams are 1-1. They’ll go from there.
Never a dull moment in the NFL.
Giants-Rams on ‘Monday Night Football’: What We Learned from Los Angeles’ 28-6 win (nfl.com)
“Home sweet, home for Rams. Basking in the comfortable confines of SoFi Stadium, the Rams returned home from a wayward Australian adventure and returned to the form so many thought would be seen. Matthew Stafford looked like the MVP from a season ago, Davante Adams looked like the game-tilting wide receiver he was for years and the Los Angeles defense, with Aaron Donald at the center of it all, was sterling. As the Giants sputtered with Jaxson Dart lost to a knee injury, the Rams overcame a couple turnovers and won handily. More than a week removed from falling flat in their opener in the outback against the 49ers, the Rams handled their business and were impressive. Stafford, rebounding from a zero-touchdown Week 1, proved that was an aberration with 327 passing yards and four touchdown passes. That he did so without an injured Puka Nacua was all the more impressive. Adams was simply wonderful in the No. 1 WR role, hauling in a pair of touchdowns and nearly 200 yards, while the two-headed running game of Kyren Williams and Blake Corum also got the job done (164 combined rushing yards). In a game that felt like a blowout despite the Rams leading by only two scores throughout most of the night, L.A. racked up 481 yards. It wasn’t perfect. There were turnovers and too many missed opportunities, but the Rams got right on Monday, happy to be home, feeling, looking and playing like themselves.“

“Rams roll in second half
The Rams never let up after halftime.
Stafford hit Adams in the third quarter on an 11-yard touchdown, which was Adams’ second score and Stafford’s third TD throw of the game. It was also Stafford’s 426th TD in his career, which moved him to sixth in NFL history ahead of Philip Rivers. Stafford would throw another touchdown to tight end Terrance Ferguson.“
Rams defeat depleted Giants 28-6 on ‘Monday Night Football’ (espn.com)
“”Everybody’s freaking out, which I understand,” Adams said last week. “We didn’t put together the greatest showing out there. But you’re a fool if you think that that’s what it’s going to look like every single week.”
On Monday night against the New York Giants, quarterback Matthew Stafford and Adams showed off the connection that flashed midway through last season, the wideout’s first with the Rams. Adams logged eight catches for 195 yards and two touchdowns during a 28-6 win in which L.A. was without wide receiver Puka Nacua.
Adams’ performance sparked a return to the offense the Rams were expecting going into the season. It was Adams’ 29th career game with multiple receiving touchdowns, tied for fourth most in NFL history.“

“Monday marked Donald’s first game back since he retired after the 2023 season.
“I was so juiced. He came running out of the tunnel and I couldn’t control myself,” Matthew Stafford said of Donald’s return. “I was freaking fired up. I’m sure y’all were in there. The fans were happy to see him back and we all were, too. Just the human being, the player, all of it combined. What he brings to our team and to our locker room is unmatched. And really to the city, which I thought was amazing. I thought it was a great reception for him tonight, well-deserved.”
The juiced Stafford went out and ripped apart the banged-up Giants secondary, whipping four touchdowns on 22 of 31 passes for 327 yards. New York pressured Stafford on just 15.2% of his dropbacks, the fourth-lowest rate he has faced in a game as a Ram (since 2021), per Next Gen Stats. When kept clean, he completed 20 of 27 attempts for 302 yards, including all four touchdowns and his lone interception — which was a heat-check deep shot in the second quarter.“
PFT’s Week 3 2026 NFL power rankings (nbcsports)
“1. Seahawks (last week No. 1; 2-0): No Darnold? No problem.
2. Bills (No. 2; 2-0): September wins are celebratory. January wins are mandatory.
3. Bengals (No. 7; 2-0): Joe Burrow can’t keep taking these kinds of beatings.
4. Chiefs (No. 8; 2-0): Kenneth Walker III could become one of the best free-agent signings ever.
5. 49ers (No. 10; 2-0): Brock Purdy is making a push for the list of top-10 quarterbacks. Maybe the top five.“
NFL Week 2 Sunday aftermath: Surprising Raiders, soaring Chiefs and sinking Chargers in spotlight (nfl.com
“Two high-profile quarterback injuries — Jayden Daniels (dislocated left elbow) and Caleb Williams (hamstring) — will hover over the early portion of the week. As we wait to better understand the extent of those players’ potential absences, let’s look at the rest of the aftermath of Sunday’s showdowns, including:
- Chiefs prove they’re back with OT victory
- Vikings’ D dominates in gritty win at Chicago
- Cowboys get back on track as Dak passes Romo
- Concern brewing for these four offenses?
- One defender who stuffed the stat sheet in Week 2
But first, a look at some unexpected developments in the young season …
Raiders lead surprising 2-0 teams
If we were ranking the most stunning teams to begin this season at 2-0, we’d start with the Las Vegas Raiders, then there would be a wide, football-field-long gap before the next squad. Klint Kubiak and Co. took care of business in the opener against a Miami team they were supposed to beat. They were expected to be a doormat in L.A. in Week 2.“
Giants’ John Harbaugh: Jaxson Dart’s knee injury is ‘in the neighborhood’ of MCL sprain (nfl.com)
“Quarterback Jaxson Dart, who was knocked out of Monday’s 28-6 loss to the Rams with a left knee injury, is believed to have suffered an MCL sprain, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported.
Rapoport and Garafolo added that Dart’s X-rays were negative and he will have an MRI on Tuesday.
“We’ll know more tomorrow. That’s in the neighborhood of it,” head coach John Harbaugh said when asked about the report of Dart’s sprained MCL. “We’ll get an MRI tomorrow and have a really good feel for it. Give you more information then.”
Dart sustained his injury on a third-and-8 on the team’s first drive as he dropped back and tossed a deep pass under pressure. He was sandwiched between Byron Young and Josaiah Stewart upon letting the ball fly, with the force of Stewart’s body pushing Dart’s knee inward.“
Comment of the Day:
“Here we go again. After just one win against the Giants. Updated SB favorites. Who’s drinking the Kool-Aid?
