When Vincent Kompany opted to start a team full of teenagers to face SV Wehen Wiesbaden, it was clear that it might be tough for Bayern Munich to pull out a win on the road.
As expected after seeing the respective starting XIs, the SV Wehen Wiesbaden did earn a 2-1 victory on a 83rd minute goal from Lukas Schleimer, but it was not a total domination or anything close to it. For periods, the kids were, indeed, alright. One of the squad’s veterans (term used loosely) was 21-year midfielder Tom Bischof,
who scored a PK for the Bavarians.
“We controlled the game for long periods. We maybe lacked a bit of movement, which is normal after just one week of training. It’s a shame we ended up losing. We could’ve won it. The boys did well on the whole. It was definitely clear to me today that I’d take it [the penalty]. I’ve practiced a lot of penalties lately, felt good and am pleased it worked out,” Bischof told FCBayern.com.
All-in-all, the game likely went as it should have. For Bischof, who came on as a sub, it was a good chance to prove his mettle and he did well. Aside of the goal, Bischof took on a leadership role, completed 88% of his passes, won two of his three ground duels, and took three shots overall.
