Falk confirms Barca contacted Kane (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Per Sport Bild’s Christian Falk, FC Barcelona did, indeed, make contract with representatives for Bayern Munich star Harry Kane, but the Catalans have “no chance” to get him:
✅ It is TRUE: Harry Kane’s representatives were contacted by Barcelona. This was confirmed to me. But I also heard that Barcelona has no chance of snatching Kane from Bayern Munich. He wants to stay in Munich and sign a new contract. However, he doesn’t want to do that right this moment while he’s still competing in the World
Cup with the English national team. Regardless, Kane just wants to negotiate with Bayern Munich, and I think they’ll find a solution.
Any sane club would want Kane given the season he is having for club and country, but the Bavarians have no desire to let him go.
Juve, PSG getting close on Kolo Muani deal (Foot Mercato)
Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain could be getting close to a deal for former Eintracht Frankfurt star Randal Kolo Muani:
After failing to reach an agreement last summer, which led to a straight loan to Tottenham, PSG and Juventus Turin are now well on their way to agreeing on Randal Kolo Muani, who has once again become the Turin club’s attacking priority.
According to our information, an agreement is very close to being reached between Juventus and PSG for the transfer of the French striker. It would be a loan with a mandatory purchase option of €40 million, which is what PSG were asking for. One thing is certain: Juventus and PSG have moved closer to an agreement regarding Randal Kolo Muani. Juventus hopes to finalize the deal in the coming days.
Tonali to NUFC (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)
After a lot of speculation, Sandro Tonali is reportedly leaving Newcastle United for Tottenham Hotspur:
Falk makes case for Klopp (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Many are calling for Jürgen Klopp to take over the German national team, including Sport Bild’s Christian Falk:
I wrote a piece for The Telegraph – discussing the virtues of Thomas Tuchel and Jürgen Klopp – that, on reflection, feels somewhat timely given Germany’s exit from the World Cup. Not to mention the questions that must now follow around Julian Nagelsmann’s continued helmanship of the national team. Tuchel, of course, can’t be considered a potential successor at this point while he continues to manage England. But perhaps that isn’t such a big problem, because while the former Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich boss is undoubtedly respected in his native Germany, he’s not loved – not like Klopp. And let’s be clear: everyone loves Jürgen Klopp. He’s not only a very, very good manager (like Tuchel), he’s also a very sympathetic character. Everyone genuinely adores him; the team loves him, the supporters love him, and Germany loves him too. That’s why we think the next Bundestrainer should be Jürgen Klopp.
The great pity is that we still have a Bundestrainer at the helm, and that’s Julian Nagelsmann. But I think, given there will be talks taking place in the coming days when the team is back in Frankfurt (and also when all the bosses are present), they will talk about the future of Nagelsmann. He didn’t say that he would step down – that’s a pity. After such a tournament, stepping down is probably the right thing to do. I can see why he didn’t; he has two years left on his current deal. So the 38-year-old will earn a lot of money if he stays put. Of course, the same can be said if Germany sack him! This is the way it should be, because everyone really wants to see Jürgen Klopp leading the country. The best thing about this scenario is that it means England can’t take him away again! You can keep Tuchel, and we’ll get Jürgen Klopp.
The former Liverpool boss has every skill that Nagelsmann is missing. I heard from the camp that he wasn’t talking to the players, and everyone was wondering why. In Germany, we have a word, “besserwisser”, which roughly translates to someone who always knows better than everyone else what the best way is to do something. But if you’re like this, then you kind of need to back that up with results.
Klopp is the one…he has to be.
If Germany fails to get him, the field starts to thin out quickly. Check out the Question of the Day (6AM EDT) to give us your ideas on who it should be if Germany cannot get Klopp.
Ter Stegen to Ajax? (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)
Marc-André ter Stegen could be headed to Ajax:
🚨🇩🇪 Marc André ter Stegen opens doors to Ajax move as negotiations are well underway also on player side.
Michel and Jordi Cruyff want MATS as new goalkeeper, deal now on with Barcelona on initial loan.
Salary share key point being discussed.
Villa puts big price on Rogers (ESPN)
Aston Villa has a pretty loft cost associated with Morgan Rogers, which could make it tough for anyone to make a move for him:
Aston Villa value any transfer for England international Morgan Rogers at £130 million amid interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, reports The Telegraph. Middlesbrough would earn £26 million from the move if that valuation is met due to a clause in the deal that saw the attacking midfielder move to Villa Park in 2024. The sum would also mark a new British transfer record.
