Joan Laporta has made it clear that he wants Robert Lewandowski to stay at Barcelona for another season
.The 37-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has said he won’t make a decision on his future until the end of the campaign.
Laporta says that he’d be happy to keep Lewandowski and explained why he’s willing to offer an extension to a player who will turn 38 in the summer.
“He’s a very talented player and a prolific goalscorer,” he told SER.
“As a token of my appreciation, I’d offer
him another year on his contract.
“He came at a very difficult time, and despite his track record at Bayern, he pushed hard to come to Barça. He gave up a lot. We’ll see what he wants to do, but I’d like him to stay another year if he wants to.”
Lewandowski is no longer guaranteed a place in the starting XI this season but has still managed 14 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions so far in 2025-26.
