The Miami Dolphins host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this afternoon as the NFL schedule moves closer to the end of the regular season. Today’s penultimate game features a Tampa Bay team trying to remain in the NFC
South title hunt while the Dolphins are just trying to get to the end of the year.
The Buccaneers’ side of the required inactives list for today includes tackle Tristan Wirfs, who was ruled out on Friday’s injury report with a toe injury. Miami’s pass rush has to take advantage of not having one of the top tackles in the game available for Tampa Bay. Also inactive is linebacker Anthony Nelson, who was ruled out with a knee issue.
Continuing to drop to the required 48 players on the gameday roster, Tampa Bay also listed quarterback Connor Bazelak, linebacker John Bullock, linebacker Anthony Nelson, wide receiver Sterling Shepard, and safety Rashad Wisdom as inactive.
For Miami, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was ruled out of the game on Friday’s injury report as he deals with a calf injury and is now officially inactive. The Dolphins will also be without center Aaron Brewer, who was questionable with a neck injury. The move ends Brewer’s streak of 58 straight games.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, a 2023 Pro Bowl selection, continues to be listed as the team’s emergency quarterback after being benched ahead of Week 16. As the emergency quarterback, Tagovailoa will dress for the game, but can only enter if both rookie Quinn Ewers, elevated to the starting role, and backup Zach Wilson are injured.
Also inactive are wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, linebacker Derrick McLendon, and tackle Kendall Lamm.
McLendon had been elevated from the practice squad on Saturday, but now will be inactive for the game.
