Kyren Williams has been one of the most productive running backs in the NFL over the past few years, and going into 2026, he should have a shot at his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season. The Rams haven’t seen a player do that for them since Steven Jackson’s days with the franchise.
It can be easy to want more from Williams due to past fumbles (always at the worst times, right?), and his lack of ability to explode out of the backfield the way we’ve seen Saquan Barkley, Jahmyr Gibbs, Kenneth
Walker, prime Derrick Henry (maybe Jeremiyah Love?) go the distance with the ball in their hands; yet despite Williams’ “limitations”, Williams has been an absolute workhouse for the Los Angeles Rams and Sean McVay.
The young RB’s rookie season was basically a learning year, but in the last three campaigns, Williams has been the primary carrier for L.A.
Notable positive stats for Williams
Going into the 2026 season, Williams has the chance to do something special by putting up his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season.
Rams’ players to put up four straight 1K rushing seasons (if I missed anyone please let me know!)
If Williams puts up a fourth 1,000-yard rushing campaign in 2026, then he would match what Dickerson had done in the past for L.A., but Williams would still be well behind the incredible mark that Jackson put up for the Rams over a decade ago.
Eight consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons is insane, and considering Jackson was literally carrying those Rams teams, it’s perhaps even more impressive, but what Williams has done shouldn’t be taken for granted by the organization or their fans.
It is fair to want more? Fans are fanatical, they want Super Bowls, and Williams hasn’t won one to this point, so wanting more is fair, but he’s been a driving force in helping the Rams have a shot each of the last three seasons.
Williams may never catch Jackson’s eight straight 1,000-yard rushing campaigns, but that doesn’t mean he can’t leave his own kind of legacy. If Kyren keeps up his production, he could go down as one of the top running backs in Rams’ history.
For now, he’ll try to further his name by getting another 1,000-yard season on the ground (his fourth straight), and go from there.
