No. 14 Texas Longhorns volleyball continued the program’s late-season push and delivered another win over a conference opponent on Wednesday night, as the Longhorns managed to sweep Georgia in three straight sets (25-21, 25-15, 25-13) at Gregory Gymnasium in Austin. Texas now improves to 11-7 overall and 7-3 in SEC play on the season.
The Longhorns’ win marked the volleyball team’s second consecutive sweep and third in their last four matches, hitting .366 while limiting the Bulldogs (14-6 overall
and 6-4 in a depressing league play) to a .145 hitting percentage.
Senior outside hitter Torrey Stafford led all players with 15 kills and eight digs. Her stat sheet was enough to extend her streak of double-digit kills to 14 consecutive matches. Texas’ Henley Anderson, a freshman this season, added 11 kills and two service aces. And Cari Spears contributed eight kills and a match-high four blocks.
Meanwhile, Texas held Georgia standout Bianna Muoneke, who entered the match averaging a nation-leading 5.11 kills per set, to just eight kills.
Texas hosts No. 17 Texas A&M on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 12 p.m. Central. Out-of-town Texas fans can tune in on ABC.
