October and November are tremendously important months for the future of the Gonzaga program through the 2026 recruiting class.
First off, four-star center Sam Funches’ official visit during Kraziness in the
Kennel was a complete success, hearing “We want Funches” chants from the Kennel Club throughout the event. One quote from Spokesman-Review’s Theo Lawson stood out when he spoke with the Mississippi native at the conclusion of Kraziness.
“I loved it. It makes you feel wanted. I love their culture of basketball. Basketball is like our football (in Mississippi).” – 2026 center Sam Funches on Gonzaga
It was always a race between the Zags, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and LSU for the big man, but he recently officially announced those four as his final choices. 6-11 Funches has already been to Spokane, Starkville, and Oxford, with one more trip to Baton Rouge scheduled to begin on October 10th. A decision should be made soon from the No. 41-ranked overall player in the country (per Rivals), most likely before the start of his senior season with Germantown.
Moving over to the wing position, four-star Luca Foster has organized an official visit to Gonzaga for the weekend of October 18th. The Link Academy in Missouri product will be in the Pacific Northwest for the exhibition matchup against NAIA Northwest on October 19th.
At 6-5, the three-level scoring threat has listed the Zags in his top nine schools back in August. The other eight include Villanova, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, Georgetown, Virginia, Michigan, Ohio State, and Oregon. Per Rivals, the No. 45 recruit has an arranged official visit to Charlottesville with the Cavaliers on the weekend of October 4th.
Foster’s already taken visits with the Wildcats, Sooners, Panthers, Hoyas, Wolverines, Buckeyes, and Ducks.
Two other four-star wings in the class of 2026 will be in Spokane; that’s No. 63 Anthony Felesi of Utah Prep in Utah and No. 54 Cameron Holmes of Millennium in Arizona, as stated by Rivals.
Holmes spoke with 247 Sports’ Eric Bossi about what has stood out with the Zags in his recruitment.
“Just like the other schools they want me. Gonzaga is a great place. Coach (Mark) Few has been doing a great job up there for a long time. This decision is going to be so hard because I’ve got a lot of great schools I’m considering and Gonzaga is another great one.” – 2026 wing Cameron Holmes on Gonzaga
Felesi is in Spokane for the Zags’ season opener against Texas Southern on November 3rd. He’s already visited Pittsburgh, San Diego State, and USC. Felesi plans on checking out UCLA (October 22nd) and Louisville (October 25th). BYU is still in the mix as well.
Holmes will be in attendance at the Spokane Arena when Gonzaga takes on Oklahoma on November 8th. He’s also highly considering the Sooners as well as Arizona, Texas, Oregon, Baylor, North Carolina, and Illinois.
