Over the weekend, the United States named its 20-person roster for the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup, and two former Terps will be playing for Team USA — with one special distinction.
Leah Crouse, who played her graduate year with Maryland in 2022, is one of the athletes named. Now plying her club trade with Tokyo Hockey, the 26-year-old Crouse has earned 72 caps for the women’s national team and will be counted on at the highest level.

DeBerdine was named one of two captains for the team at this World Cup. The five-year Terp, who had to take a break year from school in order to play on the team that went to the 2024 Paris Olympics, has earned 69 caps for the national team and will earn more this summer.
The tournament will take place from Aug. 15-30 in Belgium and Netherlands. A full schedule can be found here, with results updated as time goes on.
