The Notre Dame football recruiting machine is working hard to secure another top class. The Irish are in the mix for some of the best players in the country, and a handful of those players are going to be announcing their decisions very soon.
The next two weeks hold a lot of potential for Notre Dame, so here’s what’s going on…
TE Jaxon Dollar — 4-Star
Jaxon Dollar is the top tight end on Notre Dame’s recruiting board, and there are multiple predictions for the Irish to get his commitment on Thursday this week when he announces.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that he’s actually a pretty hard read, and has unofficially visited the Georgia Bulldogs a few times over the spring. Unfortunately, I think the predictions for Notre Dame are probably wrong as of today, and he ends up being a Bulldog this week (On3 predicts Dollar to be a Bulldog).
DE Aidan O’Neil — 4-Star
Aidan O’Neil is a player that has gone about the early part of the recruiting process pretty quietly. O’Neil plays for one of the best high school football programs in New Jersey (Don Bosco Prep), and he’s ranked as the third best player in the state. When you watch this kid play, he jumps out as a player that would be a good fit at Notre Dame — even the name is right out of central casting. O’Neil is going to announce his commitment this Friday 10 AM on CBS CFB YouTube channel, and will choose between Notre Dame, Kentucky, and Penn State. He has visited all three programs this spring, and he is predicted to pick Notre Dame.
QB Wonderful “Champ” Monds — 4-Star
Champ Monds was the top quarterback in the 2028 recruiting class, but recently reclassified to the 2027 class. While he is considered as a 4-Star prospect, there’s a better than good chance he’s closer to a 5-Star by the end of the cycle as he gets his last year of HS football under his belt and is reevaluated. Predictions for an Irish commitment came in quickly after a spring visit, and we have anticipated an announcement since that visit to Notre Dame. Monds will finally make an announcement this Friday, and he will do it on the Pat McAfee Show. The predictions show that Notre Dame is the team to beat here, while Florida State and Ohio State trail behind.
DL David Folorunsho — 5-Star
David Folorunsho is one of the best defensive lineman in the country, and he currently plays for Tom Zbikowski at St. Patrick High School in Chicago, Illinois. Obviously, as a 5-Star prospect (#9 in the nation by Rivals), Folorunsho is highly coveted by programs all over the country, which means the Irish have a real battle on their hands. Georgia, Michigan, Miami, and Texas Tech are all coming at Folorunsho with everything they have, and David has publicly said many great things about each school. While the Chicago/Zbikowski should greatly encourage Notre Dame fans, Justin Scott (former 5-Star DL from Chicago) ended up at Miami, so nothing is a slam dunk. Folorunsho will announce his commitment on May 15, and he is currently predicted to choose the Irish — but there’s still a lot of time left until then.
Notre Dame currently has 10 commitments for its 2027 football recruiting class which is ranked #8 in the country according to the 247 Team Composite Rankings. Should the Irish land Aidan O’Neil, Wonderful Monds, and David Folorunsho; it would catapult them up to #3 in the country.
One way or another, the Notre Dame Football recruiting path for its 2027 class will become a lot clearer over the next two weeks — which is a nice advantage to have going into official visit season in June. It won’t come as a shock to anyone that has been following Notre Dame football recruiting over the last few years if the Irish have most of their class committed by the end of summer.
